Mercury & Skin Diseases
As per Vedic Astrology mercury is the significator of skin. We all want good health; any problem in the health of a person indicates interruption and causes delays in the work.
Skin covers the entire body and is the largest body organ. It protects the skin.
Mercury represents anything which is outer, external or superfluous is mercury. . It cannot penetrate in depth that’s why mercury is the planet of intelligence and not wisdom.
As per Ayurveda there are three doshas: vaata (airy dosha), pitta (fiery dosha) and kapha (watery dosha). Disease occur when one the proportion of the dosha is imbalanced.
House and sign will determine which part of the body and its skin will be affected if other combination for the disease is there for e.g., for face, 1st house will be involved, etc.
If Mercury is placed well (position/aspect/conjunction) then there is a good probability that the person will not have any skin related disease, but if Mercury is not placed well then there is a possibility of him having skin related diseases. Planets like Saturn, Rahu etc. also have an important role in skin-related diseases.
For any disease to happen lagna/lagna lord, sixth house/ sixth lord/dasha plays an important role. Combination of malefic in disease related houses and Trik lords also have an important role to play.
Diseases that directly affect the skin fall into the category of skin diseases.
There are many types of skin-related diseases for eg. eczema, pimples, white or black spots, leprosy etc. occur, skin diseases also occur as a result of blemishes, pimples, acne or hot nature foods are due to blood disorders, because they occur only when the amount of contaminated blood has increased in the body. For these kind of diseases, Mars and Sun should be considered in particular along with Rahu and Saturn should be considered in particular in relation to skin diseases resulting from the infection.
Mercury is mainly responsible for all type of skin diseases and disorders. Other reasons are-
- Ascendant/Ascendant Lord,
- 2nd house/2nd Lord (face, pimples on face, facial scars),
- 6th house/6th Lord,
- Saturn (Saturn is the natural significator of skin, old age-related problems, e incurable, long lasting diseases), Moon (may cause blood impurity)
- Venus (beauty of skin), It shows dehydrated and dry skin issues, and also bad skin texture and smoothness etc. Basically, Venus helps in beautification of skin also.
- Mercury (stress in life, skin problems),
- Mars (boils, rashes, allergies, measles),
- Saturn is responsible for drying of the surface e of the skin, the prevention of excessive blood flow and the slowing down of nerve signals (such as pain, pressure, vibration),
- Mercury – Saturn conjunction, influence, aspect comes into play when examining a horoscope for skin
- Mars & Sun are responsible for skin diseases, like boils, burns, acne etc.
- Mercury indicates fungal infections also.
- Rahu & Ketu involvement is the main cause of leprosy.
- Moon shows dehydrated skin issues generally.
- Virgo sign is important as well as it’s a natural significator of diseases.
- Ashlesha, Kritika, Magha, Moola, Poorva Phalguni and Chitra are sensitive Nakshatra for skin disorders if they are connected with Venus, Mercury and Moon.
MELANOMA:
In case of cancer Saturn as significator of wasting and degenerative disease either aspects the Moon, Venus or both. .
PSORIASIS:
Skin disease that causes scaling and swelling with patches of thick, red and silvery scales. These patches can itch or feel sore. The shadowy planets Rahu & Ketu are also responsible for sudden onset of disease.
LEUCODERMA & VITILIGO:
They are two different terms but used for the same kind of skin disease.
Leucoderma : A skin disease which causes loss of skin pigmentation (melanin) because of which skin becomes with white patches.
Vitiligo is another name for ‘leucoderma‘. It’s an autoimmune disorder wherein the immune system of the body attacks the healthy cells and, in turn, starts affecting the body.
Vitiligo may also occur due to hygienic reasons, unhealthy food combin, regular intake of junk food, insecticide and pesticide treated green vegetables taken regularly, past history of jaundice or typhoid fever, and harsh antibiotic use etc. Vitiligo could also happen because of sudden emotional trauma and stress.
Due to one reason or a combination of the reasons, toxins are formed inside the body which disturbs the immune system which results in autoimmunity (a condition where immune system of the body destroys its own cells and tissues). Autoimmunity is the important reason for vitiligo.
ECZEMA
Its symptoms can be linked with Rahu. Rahu & Mercury combination can give such problems. Rahu & Mercury combination in a specific house signifies problem in the body part owned by the house.
DANDRUFF
It is related to dry skin. Saturn is a dry planet so, role of Saturn influence over mercury is quite necessary for dandruff. Scalp becomes dry so, Aries sign /Lagna must also be afflicted by a Saturn Mercury combination along with other combinations.
PIMPLES/BOILS
According to Ayurveda reason for having pimples is due to excess of Pitta. Influence of strong Sun and Mars over Lagna and Mercury could be one of the astrological reasons for it.

SUNSTROKE/SUNBURN
If the Sun is in the signs of Mercury or if Mercury is retrograde/ combust or Mercury is with Ketu, then skin problem occurs. The Sun-Mars combination often produces fire.
